Who else has had gastritis?
I went to the doctor’s on Wednesday and was told I have gastritis. I’m taking the meds he’s given me. avoided any hot and spicy food, no alcohol or aspirin, but still no relief. I don’t want to go back to the doctors, just because i’m afraid he’ll say the same thing. But my stomach pain is pretty severe. I haven’t been at work all week.
is there anyone else who has had gastritis? And please don’t refer me to webmd or anything, i’ve done enough internet research.
You should definately go back to your doctor. The reason is the way that diagnosis works. I would assume that your pain is in the upper central region of the abdomen. Your physician first ruled out heart attack and any other acute conditions that would need immediate ER admission. Then he stopped on gastritis since it is the most common cause that is associated with your symptoms. He also gave you meds that should relieve it. If you don’t feel better within a few days then it’s likely not gastritis and in that case physician does more testing (such as MRI) and goes to more rare causes of abdominal pain. On the other hand, if you don’t go back, your physician would assume that your symptoms were relieved and it was gastritis while in reality you may suffer from something else
